Course
content

This learner resource is divided into three sections.

  •          Section 1 provides an overview of the communication process and explains how communication underpins all workplace activities.

     

  •          Section 2 describes the different ways in which we communicate including non-verbal and verbal communication; written communication and electronic communication

     

  •          Section 3 provides information on how to communicate in a group and in team meetings. It also provides some guidelines on inter-cultural communication.

     

  • Learning objectives

    On completion of PUACOM001A, you will be able to:

  •          list the key elements of the communication process

     

  •          identify a range of effective communication strategies

     

  •          identify potential barriers to communication

     

  •          gather, record and convey simple and routine verbal and written information in the workplace, using a range of media

     

  •          give and receive routine instructions

     

  •          participate effectively in small, informal work group discussions and meetings.
